One Michelin star award

Argentine restaurants Crizia, Angélica Cocina Maestra and Riccitelli Bistró have been awarded one Michelin star, the most renowned prize in world gastronomy.

The prestigious French-run guide made the announcement Monday in a ceremony at the Susana Balbo winery in Mendoza. Television presenter Iván de Pineda hosted the evening attended by prominent chefs, winemakers, and food entrepreneurs.

Aramburu, the only Argentine eatery with two Michelin Stars, maintained its status as the top exponent of local cuisine.

Highlights of the evening

Nicolás Tykocki, chef of Ácido in the Chacarita neighbourhood of Buenos Aires City, was named the 2025 Best Young Chef. The organization highlighted Tykocki’s off-menu dishes as “a full-on invitation to play, discover and enjoy.” Last year, that same award had gone to 26 year-old Trescha mastermind Tomás Treschanski.

The Bib Gourmand certification, which recognizes restaurants’ value-for-money ratio was awarded to three Buenos Aires City eateries: Ácido, Ajo Negro – Mar de Tapas, and MN Santa Inés. The list of Argentine Bib Gourmand restaurants is now up to 10.

The Best Sommelier Award went to Elena Fernanda Cabrera and Leonel Ismael Castro Ortiz, from Trescha. In addition to non-alcoholic options, their approach offers a combination of select champagnes, aged Argentine wines, classic winemaking traditions, spontaneously fermented lambic beers, homemade kombuchas, and more. Last year’s winner was Martín Bruno, lead sommelier at Don Julio.

Sixteen new restaurants joined the Michelin recommended list, adding to a total of 60.

One of the new additions, Alcanfor, was also awarded a Michelin Green Star, which recognises restaurants with strong commitments to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Chef Julian Galende’s awareness-driven Alcanfor features wooden tables built by the owner himself and menus made of recycled paper using the kitchen’s surplus vegetables.

Mendoza restaurants Angélica Cocina Maestra and Osadía de Crear also received this distinction.

This is the second year the Michelin Guide awards stars and recommendations for Buenos Aires City and Mendoza. The 2024 landing of Michelin in the country resulted in the 2-star recognition for Aramburu and one-star prizes for Trescha and Don Julio in Buenos Aires, as well as four other establishments in Mendoza.
